Blog to Bucks-Is Your Blog Converting?

by Infinity Concepts | Nov 24, 2015 | Creative, Digital

Are your blogs existing or actually contributing to your bottom line? Traffic to your blogs is great, but if it isn’t generating conversions for your business, then you might want to consider how to turn your content into ROI!

Here are some helpful tips on how to turn your company blog to bucks:

No Call-to-Action, No Conversion!

One of the simplest and often overlooked methods to increase conversions is to insert a call-to-action (CTA) in your blogs. So, all you need is to place a few CTA icons in your blog and you are all set, right? Wrong! Like all marketing efforts there is a strategy component to this feature as well.

First, let’s break down the science behind an effective CTA. Obviously, the end goal is to get your reader to act, but how do you effectively accomplish this? Ensure your offer directly relates to the topic of your blog. If your blog enticed them to learn more about Facebook tips, they are highly unlikely to click on an offer for the latest practices in web design.

The most efficient way to capitalize on CTAs is to place them where the blog generates the most traffic. Locations for CTAs include: headers, sidebars, middle of a blog, end of a blog, and a text hyperlink. To see which works best for you, make sure to test your CTAs.

Keep Your Landing Page Short.

High click rates, but low conversions? Check your landing page. If your landing page is longer than a Tom Brady touchdown pass, it is time to condense your form!

When deciding how many fields to require, make sure its length reflects the value of your offer. What information do you absolutely need from your reader? What information would be nice to have but can live without? Always strive for short! Optimal conversions generally have two to three fields (i.e. ebooks, webinars) but no more than 10 fields (product demos).

Always Be Mobile.

If your efforts are computer-focused, you have missed the mark. Over 77% of searches were performed from work and home via a smartphone (Nielson and Google). In fact, mobile-friendliness has become so vital that Google announced this year it will be used as a factor to establish rank.

This is why it is crucial to limit the amount of fields you include on your landing page. Excessive scrolling can quickly frustrate and ultimately deter your reader from converting. Keep in mind to also check the placement of your CTA in mobile form to ensure it is clearly visible and in an appropriate location.

Never underestimate the value of your blog! You took the time to share your expertise with the world, why not capitalize on it? The more you blog, the more you increase your chances of conversions!
