Content Marketing: 3 Simple Ways to Use Social Media for New Donor Acquisition

by Dave Offord | May 23, 2025 | Fundraising, Social Media

Here at Infinity Concepts, we work with organizations and ministries that rely on donations every day. One tried-and-true piece of advice we always give: donations start with connection.

When you want to introduce the incredible work you do to people who may not know you yet, social media is a low-barrier gateway anyone can use.

If your nonprofit wants to reach new donors and stay in front of current ones, start with these three platforms:

1. Facebook – Tell Your Story Where Your Community Spends Time

Most of your donors already use Facebook. Start simple. Post updates, photos, and short stories that show the difference you are making.

  • Share what is happening in your mission—use real photos with short captions.
  • Post 2–3 times a week. Do not overthink it. Just show people your heart.
  • Try Facebook Fundraisers—great for birthdays and special causes.
  • Always include a link to your donate page when asking for support.

Tip: Ask your community to share your posts. That spreads your message even faster.

2. Instagram – Use Powerful Images to Inspire Donations

Instagram is still the top visual platform—and for good reason. It lets your nonprofit show impact without needing perfect polish. You can post a photo or video in minutes.

  • Post photos of the people and communities your nonprofit serves.
  • Use Instagram Stories for quick, behind-the-scenes updates.
  • Try short videos (Reels) that highlight a success or urgent need.

Tip: Add your donation link to your bio so it is easy to find.

3. YouTube – Let Donors Feel the Impact

Video helps donors experience your mission. And you do not need fancy equipment—your phone works just fine.

  • Share 1–2-minute videos that explain your work and show real results.
  • Thank-you videos and quick staff updates go a long way.
  • End every video with a clear next step: “Visit our site” or “Give today.”

Do Not Overthink It

You do not need to be a marketing expert to start. Just show up, stay consistent, and speak from the heart. But when your mission needs a professional boost—or a fresh plan—Infinity Concepts is here to help.
