Free Ways to Boost Facebook Post Engagement

by Christine Johns | Aug 9, 2019 | Creative, Digital

Like it or not, social media is here to stay. And if your business, ministry, or organization utilizes it to grow and engage your audience, chances are you have asked the question about whether it is worth the investment of a portion of your marketing budget into paid ads.

Paid ads have proven to be extremely useful in the generation of prospective leads and the engagement of your target audience, but recent changes at Facebook have forced users to spend more on boosting to get the desired results. Consequently, this has led to a significant drop in organic reach because of these demands.

Assuming you don’t have a generous digital ad budget to play with, here are some creative (i.e. free) ways to boost post engagement.

1. Make good use of Facebook Insights.

If you use your Facebook business page to boost engagement, generate buzz, drive traffic to your website, etc., then you should track your results. Facebook Insights is a FREE resource to help you see how well your content is performs and is arguably the easiest way to see what connects with your audience. Look at your top 10-20 posts. They will give you a strong idea of what kind of content is most popular with your audience.

2. Pinpoint peak posting times.

With Facebook Insights, you can discover when your audience pays the most attention to your content. Click on the “When Your Fans Are Online” tab to see peak times for reach and engagement and experiment with posts during those times. Also, capitalize on weekends as well, when your audience typically has more time to check in to Facebook!

3. Give Facebook Live a try.

Facebook Live is a highly effective way to inform your audience about your page with the use of real-time video and provides ample opportunity for users to engage and share that content. Perfect for livestream events, celebrations, reveals, and much more, Facebook Live allows an organization, church, or ministry to share the fun side of its brand.

4. Use Facebook as a registration portal for events.

If your business or organization plans to host an event (paid or free), and will sell tickets though an online portal, like Eventbrite, you can create an event on your Facebook page and link your ticketing website.

These are just some of the many ways you can leverage Facebook to promote your content and boost online marketing for free. This gives you plenty of room to experiment with your posts without breaking the bank. Plus, it will give you confidence when you are ready to put cash behind your awesome content!
