Anyone who knows me well, knows of my deep and abiding love for — and commitment to — Israel. I have traveled to the Land of the Bible more than 20 times and never grow tired of visiting the biblical sites I have read about since my youth. Over the years, I have also developed many strong relationships in Israel and consider my Israeli acquaintances to be good and true friends.
When the American Christian Leaders For Israel, an extension of the US Branch of the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem, asked Christian leaders to sign a letter to the presidential candidates urging them to stand with Israel, I was quick to respond.
However, I did not respond simply because I love the land and value my friendships — I signed because to is the right thing to do!
Amid growing anti-Semitism around the world, even within some branches of the Christian church, it is important that the United States remain Israel’s strong ally. Israel is the one true democracy in the Middle East. This small piece of land, about the size of New Jersey, holds the key to political and economic stability in the region. Additionally, Israel allows full access to religious site and freedom of worship for peoples of all faiths.
The people of Israel have a deep desire for real peace, but they are surrounded by hostile neighbors, committed to their destruction. Iran, the primary funding source for terrorism in the region, has openly declared its intensions to wipe Israel off the map.
This is an opportunity for you to make a difference. I want to invite you to join me in taking a stand for Israel by signing a grassroots petition that will be delivered to the Presidential candidates (http://www.takeactionforisrael.info/).
Regardless of your political affiliation — Democrat, Republican, or Independent — now is the time to let your voice be heard. Please consider signing this petition outlining five guiding principles for our next President … it is the right thing to do!
