3. Emphasize the Value

While brevity is important in email messages, do not skip over the essential information that inspires your supporters to donate. Emphasize the impact their donations can make by clearly explaining how their contribution will be used. Remind your supporters of their role in the process, fostering a sense of community and encouraging them to be part of something bigger than themselves. You want your supporter to be the hero in the appeal, not your nonprofit. Tell the donor her gift will help bring fresh water to a village, rescue a young girl from sex trafficking, or give a Bible to a person in the Middle East.

4. Choose a Clear Call to Action

Instead of overwhelming your supporters with multiple calls to action, choose one specific action you want them to take. This clarity will make it easier for them to understand what you are asking for and increase the likelihood of them acting upon it. While you can include the call to action in multiple places within your email, ensure that the request is focused and consistent.

5. Utilize Powerful Language

While maintaining a professional tone, make your supporters feel like you are speaking directly to them in a friendly and approachable manner. Use powerful verbs such as “support,” “donate,” and “help” to convey the expectation of action. Incorporating words like “now” or “today” adds urgency to your message, encouraging immediate engagement.
